  2. Yes, the same concept is used in taekwondo 👍.
    It seems specially difficult to grasp for newbies in the case of changing from the horse stance to the side step, where many people tend to "rotate" the body as a compass or to move the foot past the side position instead of orienting the foot (and hence the body) to the side.

  3. If you don't align your feet, knees and hips properly you lose power and risk injury in the joint from torque.

  4. mmh, for stepping, in taijiquan the reverse is done: open the toe first, then step forward. for kicking, muay thai has the reverse too: open the toe of supporting leg, then kick with the kicking leg, then further turn the toe of supporting leg

  5. Cool, I noticed it seems like fencing could be more inclined to point the back foot out to the side rather than forward and do the zombie drag, when stepping forward in free style sometimes? And becoming a smaller target with fencing.
